WHEW! Holy cow have I been under water. Sorry for the lack of posting - I've been producing my 2 biggest events of the year. One for 850 people in Atlantic City, and on for 600 people in Orlando. Good grief was I tired and busy. I spent this past weekend sleeping, watching movies, sleeping, having cocktails, sleeping, and watching tv, and did I mention sleeping? I finally feel mildly human again. Now I just have to start going to the gym again to undo 2-3 weeks of eating hotel food. YUCK!
First of all - the Oscars. I won't wax on, but I will hilight with the following comments: boring, Pilobolus irritates me (it's from a past life - Amanda will back me up here), Diane Keaton looks FABULOUS, I'm thrilled The Departed and Martin Scorcese won. And as much as I loved Little Miss Sunshine, I'm glad it didn't win - it's no Movie of the Year. If anyone is interested in reading some hilarity about the awards, check out the Go Fug Yourself girls railing on the whole event in New York Magazine. It's brilliant.
Second of all - a little shout out to all the future parents out there. And before one of you thinks I'm singling you out, I'm going to say there's THREE of you out there - and I've found out about all of you in the past MONTH. I'm going to bleed money buying baby clothes, since I can still only knit scarves. But hey - when you can buy a baby onsey that says AC/DC on it, why try to do the homemade stuff?
Third of all - a brief moment of belly aching. Dear, dear friends of mine are getting married. Fine. It's going to be a destination wedding. Also fine. Now it gets hairy. The wedding is in Greece. And not an easy to get to place in Greece - it's in Santorini. On a Sunday night. Before Labor Day. Which is not only the most expensive week to travel from the United States, but it's the most expensive week to stay ANYWHERE in Europe, since it's their "vacation season." (Europe is brilliant for lots of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that they take months off at a time. But my admiration for that falls short when the most podunkity hotel is running at $300 a night.) Good grief! Airfare right now looks to run me about $1500. I would consider walking, but Santorini is an island, and I don't have good enough upper body strength to paddle there. So, the good news is I have to stay on the gym routine so I don't have a wannabe good samaritan throw a bucket of water on me, hoping to save a beached whale. But the bad news is that it's expensive! Have I mentioned how expensive this will be? Shout out to Artsy Fartsy, who I have just mentally enlisted to teach me the ways of eBay. I'm flat-out selling some stuff to strangers and capitalizing on America's need to collect crap in order to not run up the already high credit card debt. Yikes.
Finally, I just wanted to throw this out there: I have the greatest bunch of friends in the universe. I have had a supremely wacky few weeks for lots and lots of non-work reasons. And it shouldn't take times of need to remind you to tell people how much you love them. But there it is. I know the coolest bunch of cats around - whether they've sent me cards about rear-end humor, mailed me a postcard from Graceland, or they've just flat-out bought me bourbon. And that's really all a girl can ask for out of life.
So before any of you think I've gone soft, I'll just leave with a heartfelt, "Jesus God, someone pull Gwyneth Paltrow's hair out of her face before I cut myself."
Ah, yes. Good to be back.

Welcome back, woman! I agree with you about Little Miss Sunshine. I am extremely jealous of your Greece trip, even though it does sound expensive. I love AC/DC onsies. Now go take another nap, because reading your post made me tired.
That's the first thing I said when I saw Gwyneth's hair! I laughed when I realized that was Pilobolus. I was annoyed, but they were pretty damn good.
I'm so glad you're back! I've been thinking about you a lot lately, which makes me wonder if my psyche is telling me that you're not OK. Glad to know you're definitely OK. So what are you selling on ebay? I love your crap - I'll buy it!
OMG, I'm IN a wedding in Greece this summer....until you said your friends wedding is in Sept on Santorini I thought could it be possible....? But no, we don't have the same friend getting married in Greece.
Weird.
Why have you and I not been friends for our entire lives?
Yeah! Baby clothes with Rock Bands cool! I think I saw some t-shirts and onesies that have some sayings on it like "my dad Rocks" over at sandboxcouture.com.
